About Me

My name is Kris Timchuck, but everybody knows me as "Bear." I am currently going to school at the DigiPen Institute of Technology earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science and Game Design. Prior to DigiPen I attended Michigan State University as well as Macomb Community College.

I've been a gamer my entire life. One of my earliest memories is my dad bringing home a NES with Mario/Duck Hunt/World Class Track Meet; he didn't know it but that was a defining moment in my life.

Throughout my teenage years is when I really starting to develop into a game designer. On the digital end I tried to play as many different games as possible, but now is when I started taking notes about games. I would play a game and think to myself "what would I do differently" and "what would make this game better." During gaming sessions I would write down my ideas as well as come up with new stats to try and balance the game better.

My digital horizons were not the only ones expanding; I was now into all types of gaming, from  playing card games to competitive sports.

I spent a year at Michigan State University as well as a year at Macomb Community College, but I never felt like I was doing something that I loved.

I applied and was accepted to DigiPen and have been absorbed in making games ever since. At DigiPen I am refining my skills as a Game Designer and learning what truly goes into making a good interactive experience.

I believe fun must always be at the core of a game; in my own games I like to go over the top with humor and be ridiculous to increase the fun. When I get feedback from players or I watch them playtest and I see a smile on their face or watch them laugh I know I have done at least something right.
